For the kids...

My friend Michael Cave sent the following letter to the Editor of Telegram & Gazette of Worcester, Massachusetts. It is worth reading and sharing

April 18, 2016

From:  Michael J. Cave

As I stood on the Worcester common in the early morning sunshine at the Working 4 Worcester Rally, 3 words touched my soul.
The battle cry of the day, 1100 strong was that…. “We’re here for the Kids”.

As I painted all day with my fellow Journey Church family, at the Valley Recreation Center, those 3 words haunted me.

For the kids, who have become the collateral damage of the family breakdown.

For the kids, who shoot heroin in the hospital bathrooms and stairways – “just in case” they OD.

For the kids, whose phones have such a hold on them, they are crashing their cars.

For the kids, with depression seeping into their lives as early as 14 years of age.

For the kids, who grew up with Internet porn and now cannot have healthy sexual relationships.

For the kids, coming back from multiple deployments, which are now committing suicide.

For the kids, observing a presidential election that reminds them of junior high school.

For the kids, 40,000,000 who are not here because abortion has become birth control.

For the kids, who are now men in prison, 85% who are fatherless.

For the kids, like my 7-year-old grandson that I have to explain, who is Caitlyn Jenner.

For the kids, who are having kids, and don’t know what to do.

For the kids, who never want to have kids, because no one should
be treated like that.

For the kids, who beg on every street corner, whose signs are misspelled.

For the kids, who are killing other kids, hoping someone will listen.

For the kids, joining gangs, looking for love in all the wrong places.

To the kids and God, please forgive us!
